DaimlerChrysler Services Strikes a Chord with the Southfield Philharmonic
* $10,000 donation supports philharmonic's fund raising drive
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 29 -- DaimlerChrysler Services, the finance arm of DaimlerChrysler, and the Chrysler Group's community relations group made a joint donation today of $10,000 to the Southfield Philharmonic Orchestra. Both DaimlerChrysler companies came to the orchestra's aid after learning about its financial distress, which threatens the very existence of the organization.
A former resident of Southfield, DaimlerChrysler Services is still closely tied with the city and the region and wants to support art programs that enhance the quality of life in the communities where it lives and works. "The Philharmonic is more than just a group that makes great music, it's an institution that enhances the quality of life in the community," stated Stephan Koller, responsible for Community Relations at DaimlerChrysler Services in North America. "We hope that our support will encourage other corporations and members of the community to lend their support towards this fundraising campaign."
"We are extremely pleased with DaimlerChrysler Services' support and confident that this will set the tone for our ongoing campaign", stated Joan Seymour, Southfield City Councilwoman and member of the Southfield Arts Council Board of Directors.
The next concert will take place Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Southfield / Lathrup High School beginning at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information contact 313-871-2936. For information on how to support the symphony contact Southfield Arts Council at 248-557-6621.
