Hmiel Ready to Pilot TRIMSPA X32 Ride at Atlanta Motor Speedway
Mooresville, NC (October 28, 2004) – Many things have changed in a short
period of time for Braun Racing since last weekend’s race at Memphis
Motorsports Park. In an interview on “Totally NASCAR” earlier this week, it was
announced that Shane Hmiel will fill the seat of the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge left open
when former driver David Stremme moved to FitzBradshaw Racing.
“We were very excited to announce our plans on Wednesday for the rest of
2004 and 2005,” said Todd Braun, owner of Braun Racing. “TRIMSPA has resigned
with our team for the next three years, an incredible commitment. We have
Shane Hmiel signed through the end of next season. While we had not originally
planned to have Shane finish out this season in the No. 32, we were anxious to
get underway and FitzBradshaw Racing was ready to have Stremme in their seat.”

Todd Lohse has reassumed crew chief duties for Team TRIMSPA, and will bring
Chassis BRO11 to the track this weekend. It is the same chassis driven to a
third-place finish at Kansas Speedway just three weeks ago. Hmiel has not
raced a Busch car at Atlanta in two years, but this weekend he will be pulling
double duty in both the Busch Series and Nextel Cup.
“This is going to be a big weekend for me,” said Hmiel, new driver of the
TRIMSPA X32 Dodge. “It will be my first race in the No. 32 TRIMSPA X32 Dodge.
I would like to bring home a top finish for my new sponsor and I think we can
do that. I finished sixth there in the spring in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series. This weekend I’ll be racing in both the Busch and Cup Series and it
should be fun. Driving the TRIMSPA car for the rest of the season gives me a
jump start on next year and is a great opportunity to begin my new association
with TRIMSPA and Braun Racing.”
Team TRIMSPA will head to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for its first race with
Shane Hmiel this weekend to compete in the Aaron’s 312 Saturday, October
30th. The event will be televised live at 1 p.m. eastern time on TNT and will
broadcast nationally at that same time on radio stations affiliated with PRN
and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
