National Speed Sport News Taps Jim Savas as Publisher
Long Tenure of Success in Automotive Industry Leads to Appointment
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 28 -- National Speed Sport News, the country's oldest weekly auto racing publication, is proud to announce the appointment of Jim Savas as publisher.
"Jim has done a phenomenal job of expanding the reach of automotive publishing into new and developing markets, and we look forward to tapping his expertise to grow National Speed Sport News in much the same way," said Chris Economaki, editor and publisher emeritus. "We're honored he is taking the reins, and know his respected reputation, extensive experience and publishing skill will bring even more success to a newspaper that has been a voice of the industry for 70 years."
"I am elated about leading a publication with such a strong heritage and authoritative voice in the world of auto racing," said Savas. "National Speed Sport News remains the best source of motorsports coverage for everyone involved in the fastest growing spectator sport in the world. Plus, it's also a great vehicle for advertisers to reach this market."
Savas most recently served as publisher for 12 Volt Group LLC, where he successfully launched two magazines (Street News and dialD) that brought new audiences to the publishing entity. Before that, Savas worked as vice president/general manager at EMAPUSA/Petersen Publishing Automotive Group (now Primedia), where his 20-year career with the company also found him working as vice president/executive publisher, publisher, sales manager and advertising sales representative. During that time, Savas led 4-Wheel & Off Road magazine to the top spot in its category. He served as publisher of Hot Rod magazine during its 50th anniversary, the most successful year in its history. He was also part of "Hot Rod TV" on the TNN/Speedvision television network.
In his new position as publisher, Savas will report directly to the National Speed Sport News Board of Directors.
Since 1934, National Speed Sport News has been the authoritative voice of motorsports, providing race coverage that is timely, accurate and colorful.
