Shane Hmiel Takes Over TRIMSPA Dodge Through 2005

Mooresville, NC (October 27, 2004) – Braun Racing announced today that Shane
Hmiel will be the new driver of the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge starting this weekend
in the Aarons 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Hmeil, who has signed with Braun
Racing through 2005, will immediately take over the seat vacated when driver
David Stremme signed with the Navy and Fitz Bradshaw Racing.
“I talked to Armando (Fitz) in Memphis and we decided it was best to start
focusing on both of our programs for next year,” said Todd Braun, owner of
Braun Racing. “David Stremme has done an excellent job driving the TRIMSPA Dodge
this season, and we wish him all the best with his new team and sponsor.”
Adding to the excitement at Braun Racing for 2004 is the news that current
sponsor TRIMSPA has signed with Braun Racing for three more years. Braun
Racing will also switch manufacturers from Dodge to Chevrolet and run Dale
Earnhardt Inc. engines in its cars.
“TRIMSPA is proud to have Shane Hmiel join Team TRIMSPA as our driver in the
X32 Dodge for the remainder of the 2004 season," said Alex Goen, TRIMSPA
CEO. “Anyone who has seen Shane race knows that he is incredibly intent on
winning, he is one of the most naturally talented drivers out there but what sets
him apart is his heart and determination something we as an organization
can relate to. For us the drive for the 2005 Championship starts today. "
Todd Lohse will resume crew chief duties for the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge, however
a manufacturer swap will not be completed until later in the season.
“The caliber of commitment TRIMSPA gave Braun Racing by resigning for three
years is exceptional,” said Todd Braun. “We expect to compete for the
championship next season. With Shane Hmiel, TRIMSPA, and DEI engines we will now
have the resources to do it.”
Shane Hmiel will also complete the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season
in the No. 15 TRIMSPA Chevy Silverado where he already has a win and two top
fives this season.
“I am very thankful for the opportunity to step into such a competitive
Busch ride,” said Hmiel. “TRIMSPA and I both have a strong commitment to winning
which makes this a perfect match.”
Team TRIMSPA will head to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for its first race with
Shane Hmiel this weekend to compete in the Aaron’s 312 Saturday, October
30th. The event will be televised live at 1 p.m. eastern time on TNT and will
broadcast nationally at that same time on radio stations affiliated with PRN
and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
