Applied Dynamics International's New rtX Powertrain Offers a Complete Solution for Powertrain Controller Development

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Oct. 2, 20047, 2004--Applied Dynamics International today announced the release of the rtX Powertrain simulator. The rtX Powertrain is a turnkey real-time simulator for the development and test of engine and transmission controllers. The rtX Powertrain combines the rtX PC-based real-time simulator, ADI's PCI-Engine board set, and an assortment of other boards to provide the computational power and electrical interfaces to develop and test advanced powertrain controllers.

"The rtX Powertrain embodies ADI's vision of the future of engine and transmission controller development," said John McIntosh, CEO of ADI. "When we began designing the rtX Powertrain we paid special attention to emerging engine and transmission technologies such as expandable crank-synchronous sensor emulation for in-cylinder pressure and ionization based control, plus 42 volt signal levels."

The rtX Powertrain includes the ability to run engine or transmission models developed using Simulink, SystemBuild, AMESim, Dymola, Statemate and other modeling tools or even to run several models combined. ADvantage run-time tools provide visibility into the inner workings of the executing model for analysis and debugging. Supported real-time signals include digital or analog crank profile generation, cam signal output, PWM output and measurement, TTL and battery voltage (up to 42 volts) digital inputs and outputs, 2 channels of selectable-transceiver CAN bus, 2 channels of crank-synchronous knock output, thermistors output, ratiometric and differential analog output, and analog input.

"Preview introductions of the rtX Powertrain into the automotive industry were received with incredible excitement," said Scott James, Director of Business Development at ADI. "We quickly learned that the industry was waiting for a tool to help bring forward the long list of engine technologies of the future. The rtX Powertrain exceeds existing tools with both computational performance and signal accuracy and is a fraction of the price. We're very excited to be a part of the future of powertrain technology."

Demonstrations of the rtX Powertrain can be seen in the ADI booth at this year's Automotive Testing Expo in Novi, October 27th, 28th, and 29th.
