Braintech Completes Installation of Two TrueView(TM) VGR Systems in Batavia Transmission Plant and Receives Additional Purchase Order for Third System
NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C., Oct. 27, 2004 -- Braintech, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: BRHI) , a pioneer in Vision Guided Robotics(VGR), today announced that in association with strategic partner, ABB, Inc., the Company completed the installation of two TrueView(TM) VGR Systems at Batavia Transmission (formerly known as ZF Batavia), an automotive transmission manufacturing plant controlled by Ford Motor Company and located in Batavia, Ohio.
In addition, the Company reported that it has received another purchase order from Batavia Transmission for a third TrueView(TM) system scheduled for installation in December, 2004.
Installation of the initial two TrueView(TM) systems provide for robots on Batavia's production line to locate heavy transmission castings on pallets (called "dunnage"), move the castings to a work area, and then pick up the empty dunnage and place it on a conveyor -- all using 3D vision. Prior to adopting TrueView(TM), Batavia required expensive precision dunnage in its manufacturing processes but have now switched to inexpensive parts trays.
"The TrueView(TM) VGR system is a combination of world-class technology and time-honored best practices," stated Owen Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Braintech. "The result is the most comprehensive, scalable, reliable solution for integrating the power of intelligent robotics in the manufacturing environment. As evidenced by the follow-on order received from Batavia Transmission, TrueView(TM) is rapidly emerging as a preferred solution for industrial automation processes," concluded Jones.
