A PENSKE FRONT ROW IN MARTINSVILLE


Indianapolis – (October 22, 2004) The Ringers Gloves team of Penske Racing 
South will  roll off one-two on Sunday for the Subway 500 at Martinsville 
Speedway in  Martinsville, Va. 
Charlotte pole sitter Ryan Newman, along with  UnderX by Ringers, took the 
pole this weekend with a speed of 97.043 mph/19.513  second lap, the first 
driver to break the 97 mph  mark. 
This is the second weekend in a  row Newman demolished the current track 
record.  He now leads Jeff Gordon in Bud Poles  with seven on the season.    
Newman’s teammate Rusty Wallace  qualified second at 96.234 mph in 19.677 
seconds. 
Penske Racing South fielded a  fourth car this weekend at Martinsville with 
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series  regular, Travis Kvapil.  Kvapil  qualified 
fifth. 
Brendan Gaughan and his No. 77  Kodak/Jasper Engines Dodge will start  14th. 
The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series  Subway 500 from Martinsville will air on NBC at 
12:30 p.m.  (ET).
