Local Talent Puts Detroit Companies on National TV with Cinema Vehicle Services

LOS ANGELES--Oct. 2, 20041, 2004--Thanks to the work of John Carr, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Cinema Vehicle Services (CVS), companies like Michelin, Optima Batteries, Foose Design, Harmon Consumer Group, and Air Racing Products, have found a place in the spotlight on this week's episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, which airs on October 24 on ABC.

With a background in the Detroit automotive industry, Carr recently relocated from Rochester Hills, Michigan, to Southern California to work for CVS. Known for providing picture cars to the Television and Movie industry, ABC presented them with the challenge of making over the family vehicle in less than one week. Eager to help when they learned of the tie-in with the charity Operation Confidence -- a national non-profit organization for people with disabilities -- Carr immediately got in touch with his contacts in Detroit to assist with the makeover. "These companies were more than willing to get involved in a project that gives back to the community and helps a deserving family," explained Carr.

Normally the program shows the deserving family getting a home makeover. This week, in addition to the home makeover, a family in Southern California had a 1986 Nissan King Cab refurbished. This particular vehicle was used for work with Operation Confidence, but had fallen into disrepair and had been left in the yard non-operational for several years.

Operation Confidence's (OC) Program was established to bring U.S. companies together who are interested in local and international trade to collaborate with government trade agencies, organizations and companies to assist in the employment of people with disabilities as a part of the labor force.
