Concentrek Named to Inc. 500 List of America's Fastest-Growing Private Companies; Grand Rapids, MI-Based Company Ranks #112 on the 2004 List
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--Oct. 2, 20040, 2004--Concentrek, Inc., a leading provider of advanced transportation management and supply chain solutions, has been named to Inc. Magazine's 23rd annual list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. Concentrek ranks #112 on the list, with four year average annual sales growth of 265.4% and total sales growth of 1,062%.Inc. Magazine, the premier publication for small and medium-sized businesses, ranks privately held companies according to averaged year-over-year sales growth over the past four years. The national publication is known for identifying the next generation of world-class companies, with Microsoft, Timberland, Oracle, E*Trade, Intuit, and Domino's Pizza all appearing on the list before they became industry powerhouses.
Founded in 1999, Concentrek has grown from a startup company to a leading provider of outsourced transportation management and supply chain solutions for some of the country's largest manufacturers and distributors, including Cummins, Bombardier, Temple Inland, Vermeer Manufacturing, Owens & Minor, and Rain Bird Corporation. Concentrek employs 65 associates at its headquarters in Grand Rapids and at customer sites throughout the U.S. and Canada.
"It's a great accomplishment for Concentrek to be included on this very prestigious list," said John Patterson, President and CEO of Concentrek. "The last few years have been challenging for any business, especially a startup, and this ranking is a testament to the hard work, determination, and creativity of our people."
Patterson co-founded Concentrek with two other industry executives, Mike McClelland, who heads the company's operations, and Greg Morello, who is responsible for business development. The three met while working together at a competing logistics company and left in 1999 to form Concentrek. Concentrek offers a wide range of logistics services, including supply chain analysis and design, outsourced transportation management, and advanced optimization technology for more efficient routing of shipments. The company contracts with carriers in all modes of transportation to meet their clients' distribution requirements.
The editorial staff at Inc. made special note of the resilience of companies started in 1999, noting that their growth came during "one of the toughest periods for young companies in recent memory."
"The best thing you can say about this year's crop of Inc. 500 entrepreneurs is that they didn't buy into the hype," said Inc. editor-in-chief John Koten. "When people were practically giving away funding in the late 1990s, these companies didn't overextend, and when everyone hit the panic button a few years later, they stayed calm and seized opportunity." Copies of the Inc. 500 issue will be available on newsstands nationwide beginning October 26th.
