Bosch Donates $1,300 to Farmington Hills T.H.I.N.K. Program
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 18, 2004 -- Robert Bosch Corporation recently donated $1,300 to Farmington Hills' Teaching, Helping, Involving, Noticing, Kids (T.H.I.N.K.) initiative. T.H.I.N.K. is a substance abuse education program provided to all fifth grade students in the public and private schools in the district by specially trained police officers.
"Support from local companies like Bosch is so important to T.H.I.N.K.," said Farmington Hills Police Chief William Dwyer. "This donation as well as the opportunity to increase program awareness helps fulfill our mission to ensure we reach every single child in the community."
Bosch raised the money for T.H.I.N.K. through the company's fall car and cycle show -- an employee event to celebrate its automotive heritage. Bosch associates were given the opportunity to display their unique stock and modified cars and motorcycles for coworkers. In addition, T.H.I.N.K.'s mobile command center and instructors were available for associates to learn more about the program. Associates attending the activities had the opportunity to make a $5 donation to T.H.I.N.K.
"Bosch has always placed high importance on education and supports a variety of developmental curricula," said Sylvia Vogt, vice president, corporate affairs, Americas, Bosch. "The T.H.I.N.K. program serves this initiative by reaching out to the children of the Farmington Hills community."
Food and beverages for the event were provided free of charge by Coca Cola Bottling Company of Michigan, Cochran Bros. Distributors Inc., Kraft Foods Inc. and SYSCO Food Services of Detroit to help make the donation possible.
