Autosport Development Laguna Seca Race Report
Monterey, Calif. – October 17, 2004 The GMAC/Trenton Forging #5 GTO,
driven by Stu Hayner finished 15th in the last race of the 2004 season
today at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. The
SPEED World Challenge GT race ran in conjunction with the American
Lemans Series’ Monterey Sports Car Championships.
The team also finished 15th overall in the driver Championship points.
“We’d like to have seen better,” commented team owner, David Moxlow.
“We took on a major project with this GTO. We’ve been told it is the
first professional road racing effort in the history of the GTO. So we
know what we got ourselves into. We’ve learned quite a bit through our
efforts and we’re convinced that the process of developing the car
under true race conditions was the way for us to go.”
“We’re planning several announcements in the next few weeks,” continued
Moxlow. “But, you can be sure we’ll return to the SPEED World Challenge
Series. This is where it’s at! You can also be sure we’re going to
improve in the off-season. Plans are already underway developing the
new car and we know what we have to do.”
Moxlow added. “Personally, I’d like to thank the crew, Stu Hayner and
our major partners that have participated and stood by us throughout
the year. It’s been great fun and a terrific experience. We’ll be
back!”
