Fujitsu Presents FlexRay(TM) Support Product Plan at Convergence 2004
DETROIT, Oct. 18, 2004 -- Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) and Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe GmbH (FME) today jointly announced Fujitsu's plans to support the FlexRay(TM) technology at the automotive industry conference, Convergence 2004.
"FlexRay -- A Key Element in Fujitsu's Automotive Strategy" will be presented by Dr. Gerhard Roos, Director of Automotive Applications group at Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe, at the press conference on Monday, October 18 (11 a.m., Room W1-53, Wayne Hall. Cobo Center).
Dr. Roos will introduce Fujitsu's plan to support the FlexRay technology. FME has been a member of the FlexRay consortium in Europe since November 4, 2002, and is working with other members of the consortium to realize FlexRay-enabled silicon devices.
FlexRay is the one of most versatile technologies available to support the growing requirements of the automotive multiplex bus, such as higher data rates, deterministic behavior and fault tolerance. These elements are key to meeting the needs for safety, reliability and comfort in automobiles.
"We are confident that FlexRay is an important technology for the automotive multiplex system," said Keith Horn, senior vice president of sales and marketing at FMA. "Fujitsu is diligently working on implementing FlexRay technology in our silicon products."
"Product implementation of FlexRay will be carried out by the European team," said Dr. Roos. "FlexRay is an exciting technology and we are pleased to introduce our key product plan that indicates our commitment to the automotive industry."
"FlexRay technology will complement our increasingly strong product line," said Akio Nezu, senior marketing manager for the Embedded Product Group at FMA. "Fujitsu is growing its portfolio of 32-bit microcontrollers with the control area network and local area network standards, and FlexRay is the next major breakthrough technology."
