Infineon Technologies , the worldwide number two supplier of semiconductors for automotive electronics applications, today announced that its CEO, Dr. Wolfgang Ziebart, will give a keynote speech Monday morning, October 18, at the opening session of Convergence 2004, the world's premier automotive electronics conference. Additionally, Infineon will host a special in-booth appearance by auto racing legend Mario Andretti on the first day of the exhibition.
Dr. Ziebart will speak on Monday, October 18 as part of the 9:00 a.m. opening session in Room W1-52 of Cobo Conference and Event Center. He will highlight the contribution of semiconductor technologies to electronic innovations in automotive safety, powertrain and infotainment applications, and discuss major trends in this area.
Before taking over as CEO of Infineon Technologies AG on September 1, Dr. Ziebart spent three years as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board at Continental AG, the automotive supplier, and four years as head of the company's Automotive Systems Division in Hanover, which focused on automotive electronics and electronic brake systems. Dr. Ziebart began his professional career at automobile manufacturer BMW in 1977, where he held various positions with responsibility for the development of electronics, and he was appointed to the BMW Management Board in 1999.
From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, racing legend Mario Andretti will be at Infineon's booth, #101 in Cobo Center, to meet with fans and friends from the automotive industry. Andretti, a global representative of Infineon, is the first driver in auto racing history to win events in five separate decades and the only person named driver of the year in three decades.
Visitors to the Infineon booth also will be able to check out a Porsche Super Cup model road racing car and see demonstrations of the company's semiconductor technologies for advanced automotive electronics applications, including powertrain, electrical and lighting systems, and solutions for the tire pressure monitoring systems required for new U.S. sold light vehicles beginning in 2005.
