C-COM Satellite Systems and iDirect Technologies Deliver Mobile Satellite Based Solutions Into Vehicles
OTTAWA, Oct. 13, 2004 -- C-COM Satellite Systems Inc., a Canadian publicly traded company and a leader in the development, manufacturing and deployment of mobile satellite-based technology has adapted its iNetVu Mobile Platform to work seamlessly with iDirect Technologies NetModem II products. iDirect Technologies designs, develops, and markets the fastest, most reliable bi-directional satellite-based broadband access solutions using Internet protocols.
The proprietary iNetVu Mobile satellite platform when coupled with the iDirect NetModem II is capable of delivering Internet access, video and VoIP into vehicles, while stationary, at speeds of up to 18Mbps on the download and 4.2Mbps upstream anywhere in the world where one has access to satellite connectivity.
"We are pleased to be able to offer our iNetVu Mobile self pointing antenna solution to iDirect customers world wide. The combined solution will provide customers the ability to automatically locate their satellite of choice from a vehicle or moveable structure anywhere in the world in under 3 minutes by a simple click of the mouse and be instantly connected to the Internet at broadband speeds," said Leslie Klein, President and CEO of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.
The iNetVu Mobile systems configured with iDirect modems have been already delivered to Government Agencies, Film Production companies, Oil and Gas Exploration and other resource based companies as well as to Fire Fighting Teams and Utility companies world wide.
Akron, OH based VSAT Systems developed a mobile satellite platform called the Emergency Mobile Communications System (EMCS) utilizing the iNetVu self pointing antenna and the iDirect satellite router. The system was deployed for use in the hurricane-ravaged state of Florida to aid relief efforts by the State Department of Financial Services. "The combination of the iDirect and C- COM technologies products gave us a robust and cost effective solution," said Joe Fekete, VSAT Systems' Operation Manager. "We use the best available components for our rapid-response Emergency Mobile Communications System because reliability is vital when these units get deployed. The performance of the overall product has been superb and we are proud to be helping the citizens of Florida recover from the devastating hurricane season."
With the ability to have high speed Internet connectivity available in a vehicle, coupled with voice and video and be able to communicate from virtually any part of the world instantaneously, the market for the iNetVu/iDirect type solution is expected to grow rapidly.
"We are excited to be working with the many customers that have already deployed the iNetVu and iDirect product solution and we see much further success as we grow this application for their needs," said John Kealey, president and CEO of iDirect Technologies.
