Cummins Power Generation Hosts U.S. Interior Secretary Gale Norton and Senator Norm Coleman
FRIDLEY, Minn.--Oct. 1, 20043, 2004--Cummins Power Generation, a division of Cummins Inc. , showed off its world-class production facilities today to U.S. Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton and U.S. Senator Norm Coleman (R- Minnesota), who visited the Company's Fridley headquarters and manufacturing facility.Norton and Coleman met with Cummins officials, including Chief Executive Officer Tim Solso, toured the facility and were treated to a demonstration that highlighted the Company's success in cutting emissions and reducing noise in its recreational vehicle generators.
Secretary Norton also accepted a donation of five Onan generators, made at the Fridley plant, that will be used to help aid clean-up efforts on public lands in Florida that have been damaged by the recent hurricanes. The clean-up is part of a national program, "Take Pride in America" recently relaunched by the Interior Department to encourage volunteer efforts to maintain and restore public lands.

"We take great pride in producing power solutions that not only meet the needs of our customers, but that are at the leading edge of emissions and noise-reduction technology."
Cummins Power Generation employs about 1,400 people in Fridley, where it makes generators, ranging from those used in RVs to 2-megawatt generators that can provide enough power for 100 homes.
"Today we are helping to provide power across the globe - from back-up power to hospitals in the United States to powering villages in Africa to keeping the lights turned on at the Statue of Liberty during the blackout of August 2003," said Bob Sonntag, Vice President - Worldwide Power Generation Operations.
