Reynolds University Wins 2004 USDLA Distance Learning Award

Award recognizes Reynolds for training excellence in programs for auto dealerships and company associates

DAYTON, Ohio, Oct. 12 -- The Reynolds and Reynolds Company announced that it has been recognized by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) with its "Excellence In Distance Learning Programming" award within the Corporate/Business category. The company received the top honor today at USDLA's annual Distance Learning Conference in San Francisco.

The award recognizes organizations that have designed and delivered an outstanding and comprehensive distance learning program service, noted Dr. John G. Flores, executive director of USDLA.

"This honor acknowledges Reynolds' accomplishments in distance learning and highlights the company's instructors, programs and professionals who have demonstrated extraordinary performance through distance learning. Reynolds' comprehensive curriculum, which includes courses from diverse disciplines covering customer training and associate development relative to the automotive retailing industry was recognized for its quality by the USDLA panel of expert judges," Flores said.

A 100-point judging system was used to determine the category winner. Judging criteria, which can be found at http://www.usdla.org/html/events/dlAwards.htm included assessing program and curriculum quality, effectiveness, delivery success, overall impact and student satisfaction.

Susan Moll, director of Reynolds University, said "This is a significant achievement for our team and we are honored to receive the award. It is another testament to our mission and demonstration of success as proven by our customers' measurable return on investment and impressive training feedback."

Dealership Training

Reynolds' distance learning program is part of Reynolds University, an educational best practices/processes institution offering a diverse portfolio of training services. Reynolds University was established in 1994 and comprises professionals committed to designing, developing and delivering adult learning technologies, methodologies, materials and curricula to external automotive customers and internal associates.

A specialized group of professionals staff the Reynolds Distance Learning Center in Sparks, MD. These "remote trainers" conduct training and drive utilization of Reynolds solutions by providing the one-on-one and virtual classroom training and certification needed to improve dealership employee productivity and effectiveness. During 2003, the center delivered more than 13,000 training modules for greater than 5,000 customers on approximately 6,000 software application activities.

As part of the external customer training, Reynolds University has dedicated trainers within the field. These professionals visit dealerships nationwide to install and train customers on the company's application products and the processes so they can best utilize them.

Associate Training

An internal associate training group works with new and existing field sales, training delivery and support associates to provide them with industry, process and solutions knowledge that drive customer satisfaction through the sales, installation and support experience.

"Looking ahead, we will continue to leverage appropriate tools, technologies and methodologies to provide the best just-in-time training materials and processes to our customers and associates," Moll said. "Additionally, we will seek and engage learning professionals and business partners to streamline development and deployment of materials and methodologies."

Finally, the company is in its final construction stage of a new two-story Reynolds University facility at the company's Research Park world headquarters in Dayton, Ohio. The state-of-the-art facility will include a simulated dealership center, plus multiple classrooms and break-out rooms equipped with the latest technologies.

Earlier this year, Reynolds was listed No. 32 on Training magazine's list of the "Top 100 Training Organizations" nationally.
