UAW and Axle Alliance to Hold Joint News Conference Monday, Oct. 11

New investment, jobs for Metro Detroit

The UAW and Axle Alliance Co., a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG, will hold a joint news conference at 9:00 a.m., Monday, Oct. 11 at UAW Solidarity House to announce a major new investment by the company in the Detroit metro area and a new national agreement that will cover all UAW-represented Axle Alliance Co. manufacturing facilities in the United States.

  Participating in the news conference will be:

  *    UAW President Ron Gettelfinger
  *    Axle Alliance Co. CEO Chris Traidl
  *    Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano

* UAW Vice President Bob King, who directs the UAW National Organizing Dept. and the Independent Parts and Suppliers Dept.

* UAW Region 1A Director Jimmy Settles

The news conference will be held in the 3rd floor auditorium of UAW Solidarity House, 8000 East Jefferson Avenue, Detroit.

The auditorium will be available for media set up at 8:30 a.m. A mult box will be available for broadcast media.
