Thermo Fan and Freedom Motors Developing Small Diesel Rotary Engine

Compact Diesel-fueled Generator Set Under Development

DAVIS, Calif., Oct. 7 -- Freedom Motors announced today that it has signed a contract to provide Thermo Fan LLC with a small rotary engine for use in its truck engine idling alternative.

Using state-of-the-art technology, Thermo Fan provides the trucking industry with a one-of-a-kind sleeper comfort system. The Rest Assure Sleeper System (RASS) maintains a comfortable sleeper temperature without the use of compressors or Freon as used in "traditional" air conditioning systems. The RASS provides maximum comfort with little or no maintenance and uses none of the truck's heating and/or cooling hardware. All that an operator needs to do is set the thermostat and enjoy a good nights rest.

Thermo Fan makes engine idling a thing of the past. The RASS utilizes Solid State Heat Pumps (SSHPs), which are used by NASA, on the space shuttle and the military, in laser guided and night vision systems. Cisco Systems, Intel, Boeing and many other "high tech" companies use SSHPs. This technology allows the RASS to operate without condensation and with a fan as the only moving part.

Freedom Motors, is developing the revolutionary auxiliary power unit utilizing the Rotapower(R) engine and the provisions of its technology license agreement with Moller International, the owner of the patented rotary engine design. The new unit, called the ROTOGEN, is projected to reduce the size of the auxiliary power unit to about one-third the size of units used in the trucking industry today. The ROTOGEN is being designed to be very quiet and produce minimal vibrations, while at the same time providing more power and better fuel economy than currently available products. The ultimate advantage of this new system is its anticipated ability to generate very low levels of hazardous emissions, a mandate of Federal and State regulators.
