Modine's Richland Facility Achieves Milestone, Produces 5,000,000th Oil Cooler
RACINE, Wis.--Oct. 7, 2004--Modine Manufacturing Company , a worldwide designer and developer of thermal management applications, announced today its Richland, South Carolina facility has reached a significant production milestone, producing its 5,000,000th PF(R) brazed aluminum oil cooler for passenger cars and light truck transmissions and engines."PF brazed aluminum oil coolers are a Modine-patented product that provide greater heat transfer in a smaller, more compact package," said Todd Henry, Modine Richland Plant Manager. "They are also extremely flexible in regards to design, allowing us to customize the product to meet our customer's application requirements."
The oil coolers are produced at the 110,000 square foot Richland plant on five production cells using the Controlled Atmosphere brazing process. Customers are looking to the PF brazed aluminum oil coolers to meet increasing heat transfer performance requirements. "We have earned business in the automotive industry because of the way we can produce and package this oil cooler," said Johannes Kuron, Modine General Manager, Automotive Division. "The weight-to-cooling ratio is a tremendous advantage." Modine provides PF brazed aluminum oil coolers worldwide to customers including DaimlerChrysler, Isuzu, Ford, Visteon and Nissan.
"This is an incredible accomplishment," said Henry. "We congratulate all our 200 plus employees who worked hard to achieve this. We started eight years ago making only a few hundred thousand oil coolers a year. Now we are up to 1.3 million a year," added Henry.
