Chrysler Selected Alcoa Aluminum Closure Panels for Four New Programs, Including 2005 Chrysler 300C

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--Oct. 5, 2004--Alcoa announced today that four of Chrysler Group's hottest new models feature aluminum closure panels. The 2005 Chrysler 300C features an Alcoa aluminum hood and deck lid while the Dodge Magnum, the re-designed Grand Cherokee and the Chrysler Pacifica all feature hoods made from Alcoa sheet.

"Alcoa is delighted to be a part of four programs that are real winners in the market place. Fresh, bold styling and exceptional dynamic performance characterize each of these new vehicles and we are proud that our products enhance these crucial elements of a great driving experience," noted Bob Larson, vice-president of sales and marketing for Alcoa Mill Products.

"It is equally pleasing to note that Alcoa also has some beautiful cast wheels on both the Magnum and 300 Touring Edition and is working through Visteon to supply a newly-engineered drive shaft for the Grand Cherokee that will enhance its noise-vibration-harshness and maintenance performance," Larson continued. "These new Chrysler Group applications well illustrate the breadth of Alcoa's automotive products and the depth of our technical resources."

Alcoa's patented 6022 sheet alloy is featured on the 300C and Magnum closure panels. This alloy provides improved strength, formability and corrosion resistance. Alcoa provided 14,000,000 pounds of aluminum sheet from its Davenport, Iowa and Danville, IL, plants to the automaker for these three platforms.
