Carfax Joins Honda and Acura Certified Pre-Owned Programs; Leading Automakers Make Carfax Vehicle History Reports Key Component in Programs

FAIRFAX, Va.--Oct. 5, 2004--Carfax, the most trusted provider of vehicle history reports, today announced that they have joined American Honda Motor Co. in support of their Honda and Acura Certified Pre-owned programs ("CPO"). As part of the association between American Honda and Carfax, all Honda and Acura dealers will include a Carfax Vehicle History Report on all Honda and Acura CPO vehicles. Every Honda and Acura CPO vehicle will now come with the Carfax Buyback Guarantee indicating the vehicle history does not contain any DMV-reported problems.

"We evaluated multiple options for meeting the demands of our CPO customers and Carfax was clearly the best choice for vehicle history information," said Dan Crowe, Automobile Remarketing Manager for American Honda. "Many of our dealers have already seen the value of their association with Carfax. We're confident the inclusion of the reports will provide added value to the CPO vehicles in the eyes of our customers."

Every Honda or Acura Certified Pre-owned vehicle, in addition to a clean title history verified by Carfax, must undergo a thorough 150-point inspection and reconditioned to stringent mechanical and appearance specifications. Each certified Honda and Acura pre-owned vehicle is covered by a comprehensive 12 month/12,000 mile, no-deductible limited warranty over and above any remaining new-car warranties still in effect and a 7 year/100,000 mile power-train warranty from the original date of service.
