Race of Champion Winners Crowned at Summit Finals at U.S. 13 Dragway
DELMAR, Del. - In the final results of the NHRA Northeast Division RBS Trailer Sales Race of Champions, Randy Krause, Mike Sutton, Roger Dalton Sr. and Kevin Wuest all scored wins in their respective categories.
Krause captured the win for Numidia Raceway in Super Pro. In the final, Krause of Orefield, Pa., defeated Island Dragway representative Joe Cabets of Throop, Pa.
In Heavy, Spencer Speedway representative Sutton, of Waterloo, N.Y., defeated Jeff Pasquariello Jr., of Totowa, N.J., representing team Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. Pasquariello, who is always a strong runner, was last year’s Race of Champions winner.
Scoring the win in Street was Capitol Raceway’s Dalton Sr., of Aberdeen, Md. Dalton earned his win over Mason-Dixon Dragway representative Jeremy Manford of Hagerstown, Md.
Claiming the Motorcycle/Sled win for ESTA Safety Park was Wuest of Marcy, N.Y. In the final, Wuest defeated Hughesville, Pa., racer Charlie Herlt, a runner for Numidia Raceway.
Another winner this evening was new NHRA member track owner, Phil Blazawski. Blazawski, who recently took over ownership of Numidia Raceway in Numdia, Pa., eliminated Emmaus, Pa., runner Jennifer Kershner in the annual Northeast Division Track Operator’s and Team Captain’s race.
Saturday’s action will feature the highly regarded individual championships in Super, Heavy ET, Motorcycle/Sled and Street, as well as the coveted Team Championship, won last year by Atco Raceway from Atco, N.J. The winner of each the individual race categories tomorrow qualify for the Summit Racing NHRA National Finals, to be held at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. There the drivers will complete for a "winner-takes-all" $5000 purse and the Summit Racing Series National Championship.
Saturday will also feature the High School Eliminator Challenge presented by Luzerne County Community College, which is open to competitors currently enrolled in High School, or 2004 graduates. The winner of the eliminator will receive a $1000 U.S. Savings Bond, Champions Jacket and a trophy, all to be presented at the NHRA Northeast Division Championship Banquet being held January of 2005.
