Texas Instruments and MEMSIC Sign Automotive Marketing Agreement

N. ANDOVER, Mass.--Oct. 1, 2004--

Sensors & Controls Business of Texas Instruments To Supply MEMSIC Thermal Sensor Technology to Automotive Applications

MEMSIC Inc., the leading provider of CMOS-based MEMS accelerometers/sensors, announced that it has entered into a cooperative marketing and sales agreement with the Sensors & Controls Business of Texas Instruments. Under this agreement, MEMSIC's thermal sensor technology will be made available to the wider automotive market through Texas Instruments. Texas Instruments (TI) will work together with MEMSIC to develop new automotive specific products to be fabricated by MEMSIC, exclusively for TI.

"For the first time, MEMSIC sensor technology will be available from a market leader in automotive sensor technology. The automotive market is currently shrinking its supplier base and raising entry barriers for new companies," stated Dr. Yang Zhao, MEMSIC's CEO. "This agreement will now allow auto OEMS and Tier One suppliers access to MEMSIC's highly reliable technology through an established automotive supplier they are familiar with."

"This agreement allows the dual purpose of addressing these customers through TI's powerful market position, while allowing MEMSIC the opportunity to focus on continuing to address the significant growth in our consumer business," continued Evan Sanders, Vice President of Worldwide Sales.

"We are just beginning to tap the automotive market potential of MEMSIC's thermal sensing technology and are excited about the advantages that this technology offers TI's customers," stated Gary Baker, Manager, Strategic Business Development, TI Sensors & Controls.

"Based on current single-digit PPM quality performance and advanced manufacturing process controls, we are highly confident that MEMSIC will meet or exceed the quality expectations of our customers," continued Takeshi Tanaka, General Manager, TI Sensor Products Asia. "We look forward to a long and fruitful cooperation with MEMSIC."

MEMSIC will supply product to Texas Instruments from its new 45,000 sq. ft. TS16949 certified facility located in Wuxi, China, which has a current manufacturing capacity of 3M units per month.
