JM Family Enterprises and Toyota Companies Donate $1,500,000 to Hurricane Relief Efforts
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.--Sept. 30, 2004--JM Family Enterprises, Inc. (JMFE), its associates and subsidiary Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC, (SET) along with Toyota Companies have announced an additional $500,000 donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in support of the relief efforts in Florida, Alabama and other states impacted by Hurricanes Jeanne, Ivan, Frances and Charley. This brings the companies' total contribution to $1,500,000. A $1 million donation was announced on August 17 following Hurricane Charley, the first of four hurricanes to impact the U.S. in August and September. The funds will provide food, water, shelter, counseling and other essential items to families left devastated by the recent storms."Many of us in South Florida were lucky to have narrowly escaped the devastation of these storms," said JMFE Founder and Honorary Chairman Jim Moran. "We have joined with Toyota to give not once, but twice, because the need is so great. As leaders in the community we must do everything we can to help our friends and neighbors recover. I hope that our donation inspires other companies and individuals to give what they can to help those in need."
According to Pat Moran, JMFE's chairman, "I am so proud of our associates for coming to the aid of one another, our Toyota dealers and the community. Our number one priority is always safety and immediately accounting for our associates and dealers following a storm. We had many associates volunteer for our search and restoration teams and make personal donations to the Red Cross. Together with Toyota and our associates, we will help families in need to rebuild their homes and lives, creating new beginnings and hope for the future."
Although none of JM Family's business locations across the southeast sustained major damage, a number of its Toyota dealerships were affected by the storms but were up and running almost immediately with the help of generators and other equipment.
"For the tens of thousands who have suffered through the worst hurricane season in decades, the overwhelming generosity of JM Family Enterprises and Toyota will immediately help families begin their recovery," said Bill Epps, Broward County Red Cross Executive Director. "The instantaneous gift demonstrates the best in corporate leadership and compassion by both of these remarkable businesses."
