Society of Plastics Engineers Inc. Awards Bob DeLong The Lifetime Achievement Award
HOUSTON--Sept. 30, 2004--BP Solvay Polyethylene congratulates Bob DeLong for his accomplishments within the plastics industry.Bob DeLong was honored Sept. 22, 2004, with the SPE Blow Molding Division's Lifetime Achievement 2004 Award at the 20th Annual Blow Molding Conference.
Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) takes action to help professionals in the plastics industry succeed (APC or SPI helps companies). They do this by sharing knowledge, strengthening skills and promoting plastics. By employing these vital strategies, SPE has helped the plastics' industry thrive for over 60 years. SPE has more than 20,000-member network of leading engineers, scientists, technicians, marketers, and other plastics professionals. Their objective is to promote the scientific and engineering knowledge relating to plastics.
The SPE Blow Molding Division Board of Directors meets three or four times a year to establish policy, and plan program activities. The Blow Molding Division's primary activities include an Annual Blow Molding Conference, scholarship awards to college students in plastics programs, dissemination of blow molding knowledge through a Web site, newsletter, and speakers. The Blow Molding Division has elected Bob DeLong as the Lifetime Achiever for 2004 for his expertise and knowledge of polyethylene and polypropylene blow molding. Bob has been working in the plastics industry since 1956, and he has been a member of SPE since 1969, and he was elected a Fellow of the Society in 2002.
"Mr. DeLong is well-known and highly respected in the industry, and he fully deserves this award," says Gary Miertschin, BP Solvay Polyethylene's commercial vice president. "We are extremely pleased that he has been honored by SPE. Most of all, we are thankful to work with Bob and to have him as our mentor," say Bob's coworkers.
