Reed Sorenson to Pilot No. 77 Target Dodge at Talladega
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 28, 2004) --- Chip Ganassi Racing with
Felix Sabates developmental driver Reed Sorenson will be piloting the
No. 77 Target Dodge in the ARCA event at Talladega Superspeedway this
Saturday. Busch Series crew chief Brian Pattie will lead the Target
team. Pattie has experienced much success in restrictor-plate racing in
his seven years as a Busch Series crew chief accumulating five of his 15
wins and eight of his 14 poles at Daytona and Talladega.
"I am looking forward to running my first Superspeedway race this
weekend at Talladega," Sorenson said. "The main thing I hope to gain
from this weekend is to get ready for Daytona next year. Running the
Busch Series and the ARCA Series this season has helped me gain
experience on tracks of all different configurations and sizes. I am
able to take these experiences and use them for the future. We have a
good car for this weekend and we should be able to run in the top five
all day."
Sorenson is currently running a limited Busch Series schedule in the
No.41 Discount Tire Dodge and for the ASA National Championship in the
No. 29 Target/Texaco/Havoline Dodge. So far this season, Sorenson has
placed 13th at Indianapolis Raceway Park in the Busch Series and he won
his last ARCA event at Michigan in June. Sorenson is expected to run
three more Busch Series races for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates
in the No. 41 Dodge at Atlanta, Darlington and Miami-Homestead.
The No. 77 Target Dodge has won four out of the last five races it has
been entered in. NEXTEL Cup driver Casey Mears drove the car to victory
three times in the 2003 season while Sorenson drove it there earlier
this season at Michigan, which was only his second start ever in an ARCA
car.
The ARCA race is scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd at Talladega
Superspeedway. The race will be broadcast LIVE on the pee Channel at 2:00
p.m. EST
