Cobra Electronics Guides the Way with the Launch of the NAVONE 3000

CHICAGO--Sept. 28, 2004--

Company's award-winning Plug-and-Go system is ready for use without downloads or PC support

Cobra Electronics today announced the availability of its highly anticipated mobile navigation system, the NAVONE(TM) 3000, first introduced at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show. The product, which received two 2004 International CES Innovations Awards from the Consumer Electronics Association, including the company's first Best of Innovations Award, is recognized for its intuitive features, internal gyroscope and PDA beaming ability.

The NAVONE 3000 is a true Plug-and-Go system based on industry-leading features that eliminate the need to download maps from computers or CD's. It provides users with easy-to-follow voice and visual turn-by-turn directions to their destination of choice, using a North American street-level map of the 48 contiguous states, Hawaii and major Canadian cities. Employing Global Positioning System (GPS) signals, the NAVONE 3000 identifies the vehicle's location and uses highly sophisticated software to set a route to any destination.

Allowing users to beam an address directly to the unit from a Palm(R) or Pocket PC(R) PDA with an infrared port, the NAVONE 3000 eliminates the need to key in an address. The unit also contains an internal gyroscope, which tracks the vehicle's position even when the satellite signal is temporarily lost while traveling in an urban canyon or through dense foliage. Proprietary iASAP(TM) technology provides the NAVONE 3000 with faster satellite acquisition and uninterrupted navigation.

"This is a milestone day for Cobra," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president, marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics. "The NAVONE 3000 has already had a huge impact on our company, allowing us to make the leap from selling hardware to selling technology. The accolades the product has received showcase our commitment to providing consumers with cutting-edge technology that enhances their navigation experience."

Cobra designed the NAVONE 3000 to be intuitive, resulting in a product that is easy to use, easy to read, easy to transport, and comes preloaded with location information for over two million points of interest - including restaurants, sporting arenas, airports and museums. The unit also features the largest high-resolution screen in its class at 5.2-inches with ultra-bright color display, offering excellent sunlight readability and automatic adjustment for night viewing. The NAVONE 3000 supports English, Spanish and French languages and has intuitive function keys for easy access to system features. It also includes automatic power off when the ignition is turned off and displays an odometer, speedometer, trip timers, GPS compass and elevation readings.

An automotive-grade hard disk drive enables the NAVONE 3000 to operate at temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit - making it the only hard drive mobile navigation unit built to function in sub-freezing conditions. An industrial grade windshield bracket with quick release provides both a secure connection to the windshield and instant portability between vehicles.

"Cobra's commitment to mobile navigation is really showcased in this product," said Mirabelli. "The potential for Cobra in mobile navigation is unlimited as we continue to allocate resources towards future innovation."

The unit comes loaded with maps from NAVTEQ that offer precise road geometry and two million points of interest. In addition, GPS technology provided by SiRF Technology Incorporated provides users with instant location information.

The NAVONE 3000 is now available at consumer electronics retailers across the country with a MSRP of $1299.95.
