SPX Service Solutions Awarded $20 Million Contract as Sole Supplier for Massachusetts Enhanced Emissions and

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 28 -- SPX Corporation today announced that its Service Solutions business has been awarded a contract as sole vendor to supply inspection and maintenance equipment and service to Agbar Technologies, Inc. for the Massachusetts Enhanced Emissions and Safety Test Program.

SPX Service Solutions was selected for its ability to meet the requirements of the newly redesigned program, which includes stricter equipment and service performance standards. The two-year contract includes the option for two one-year program extensions. "The contract underscores Service Solutions' continued focus on diagnostic solutions for the industrial and transportation sectors," said David Kowalski, President of Service Solutions.

Under the terms of the contract, Service Solutions will upgrade nearly all of the approximately 950 analyzer systems it previously sold and installed in Massachusetts beginning in 1998. The upgrades will include technological advances such as CAN (Controller Area Network) OBD II enhancements and improved NOx measurement instrumentation developed by Horiba Instruments, Inc.

Service Solutions will also install 730 new analyzer systems to replace equipment previously installed by another vendor. Service Solutions expects all installations will be complete early in 2005.
