Drivers Start Your Engines ... and Prepare as the Old Spice #11 Race Car Debuts in the NASCAR Nextel Cup

J.J. Yeley Set to Drive the First-Ever Old Spice Nextel Cup Stock Car

CINCINNATI, Sept. 27 -- Old Spice, the leading male antiperspirant/deodorant brand in the category and the No. 1 choice for men, announces its latest endeavor in the adrenaline-charged world of NASCAR -- the brand's first-ever Old Spice Nextel Cup stock car. The #11 Old Spice Chevrolet Monte Carlo, with J.J. Yeley behind the wheel, will make its Nextel Cup debut at the Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 3, 2004.

"Old Spice is very excited to see its brand logo on the hood of a Cup car at one of the fastest and most exciting tracks in the U.S.," said Carl Stealey, Old Spice brand manager. "As the leader in men's grooming products, we're thrilled to have the opportunity to align ourselves with one of the future stars of the NASCAR circuit."

Following in the footsteps of his fellow Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) teammate Tony Stewart, whom Old Spice has sponsored since 2000, USAC Triple Crown winner J.J. Yeley is making the transition from the open-wheel ranks of USAC to the NASCAR world of full-bodied stock cars, competing in an A-B-C developmental schedule of ARCA, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races. By the end of the season, he will have competed in approximately 18 Busch races and 3 Nextel Cup races for JGR.

Last year, Yeley won the USAC National Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown championships, becoming only the second driver ever to win the "Triple Crown" in a single season. He was also named "Driver of the Year" by the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association (AARWBA), Eastern Motorsports Press Association (EMPA), National Speed Sport News and the Hoosier Auto Racing Fans.
