Deputy Prime Minister Jaguar Photocall
LONDON, September 27 -- Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott will be giving his support to the Jaguar Browns Lane workers today, by being photographed together with them and his Jaguar car.
Britain's most famous Jaguar driver will appear with Tony Woodley, General Secretary of T&G and Derek Simpson, General Secretary of Amicus to back the campaign for British Jaguar jobs.
1,150 job Jaguar job losses were announced by Ford on 17th September which unions believe will result in the effective closure of two Jaguar plants in the West Midlands.
Ford' decision was made without any consultation with employees or trade unions and is in breach of their own agreement to keep Brown Lane as the centre for Jaguar production in the UK.
