JOEY SCARALLO VOTED BBS MOST IMPROVED DRIVER BY FELLOW COMPETITORS

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 24, 2004) — Joey Scarallo was voted the 2004 Motorock Trans-Am Series BBS Most Improved Driver. Scarallo, driver of the No. 06 Toyo Tires/Autotrend Chevrolet Corvette, joins an elite group of former Most Improved Drivers, which includes Johnny Miller, Randy Ruhlman, Tomy Drissi, John Baucom and Jim Derhaag. The award was first given in 1982, and is determined in a vote by those competitors who raced in at least half of the events this year.

The sophomore driver finished his best Trans-Am season on record a career-best seventh in points. Scarallo scored three top fives this year—including fourth-place effort at Portland, his best finish to date—as well as five top tens.

"The BBS Most Improved Driver Award is a high goal to achieve," said Scarallo. "This award is very special, especially considering where it comes from. It's important to be recognized by your peers.

"This season wasn't perfect, but it was a huge step forward from last year," added Scarallo, who teamed with owner/driver John Baucom this season after running his own team in 2003. "It goes to show my team did a great job, giving me a car that allowed me to showcase my talent. The personnel we had around the car this year were very talented. Their hard work really paid off.

"Last year, I had too much grease on my hands," quipped Scarallo. "Having a professional team prepare the car took a lot off my mind. I could concentrate more on driving this year."

The Motorock Trans-Am Series features closed-fendered, production-based, V-8-powered sports cars, competing on permanent road courses, and temporary street and airport circuits throughout North America. The Trans-Am Series is America's oldest continuously running road racing series and celebrates its 40th year of competition in 2005.
