Midas to Present at Thomas Weisel Partners Consumer Conference; Company Sees Continuing Positive Comparable Shop Sales During Third Quarter

ITASCA, Ill.--Sept. 24, 2004--Midas, Inc. will present at the Thomas Weisel Partners Consumer Conference in New York.

The presentation by Alan D. Feldman, Midas' president and chief executive officer, will be on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. A live webcast will be available at http://www.visualwebcaster.com/event.asp?id=24686 and in the corporate news section of the company's website at www.midasinc.com. The presentation will be archived for 30 days.

Separately, Midas reports that comparable shop sales continue to be positive in the third quarter. This follows a 1.4 percent increase in comparable shop sales in North America in the second quarter. Midas also expects to report an increase in comparable shop sales in its company-operated shops. However, Feldman said that because 45 of its 73 company-operated shops are in Florida, company-shop operating results will be negatively affected by the recent hurricanes. Midas plans to report third quarter results in late October.

Midas is one of the world's largest providers of automotive service, offering exhaust, brake, steering and suspension services, as well as maintenance services, tires and batteries at more than 2,600 franchised, licensed and company-owned Midas shops in 19 countries, including nearly 1,900 in the United States and Canada.
