Paris Auto Show:HONEYWELL ANNOUNCES THIRD GENERATION VNT AND JURID BRAKE PADS TO EQUIP NEW BMW 1 SERIES

PARIS, September 23, 2004

- Honeywell Offers Innovative Automotive Solutions to New Model Launched at Paris Motor Show

PARIS MOTOR SHOW - Riding on the success of its VNT(TM) turbocharging technology, Honeywellis introducing its latest version -- the third generation VNT(TM)turbocharger -- on the new BMW 120D. Also fitted on the BMW 1 Series are Honeywell's JURID(r) brake pads that feature its revolutionary Sandwich Metlock(r) attachment.

The third generation VNT(TM) turbochargers feature a new VNT(TM) cartridge that has been developed specifically to meet customers' needs resulting from the trend towards smaller, cleaner and better performing engines. The new platform has spawned several high performance innovations - a new vane shape, a new generation turbine wheel and better controllability, all combining to deliver 130% of second generation VNT boost levels at just 90% of back pressure.

"Honeywell is planning to make a full range of the third generation VNT(TM) turbochargers available for production launches in 2004 and beyond for engines ranging from 1 to 3.5 liters," said Alexandre Ismail, Vice President and General Manager of the Europe Region for Honeywell Turbo Technologies.

The revolutionary JURID(r) Sandwich Metlock(r) attachment builds on Honeywell Friction Materials' extensive experience in using Metlock(r) sinter bonding to attach the friction material to the steel backing plate of a disk brake pad. The new Sandwich Metlock(r) enhances the overall strength of the pad assembly, particularly in high-temperature, heavy-duty applications - adding to the safety reserves of these critical components.

"We have again refined our world-renowned VNT(TM) technology that is delivering the best performance yet to our customers," said Rob Gillette, President and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems. "The fact that our JURID(r) brake pads are also equipped on the BMW 1 Series is a clear demonstration of the range of innovative solutions that Honeywell can provide to auto manufacturers around the world."

Honeywell's Garrett(R) turbochargers and JURID(r) brake products are products of Honeywell Transportation Systems. With $3.7 billion in revenues in 2003, Honeywell Transportation Systems also manufactures Bendix(r) brake products, Fram(r) filters, Prestone(r) antifreeze, Autolite(r) spark plugs and Holts(r) automotive products

Honeywell International is a US$23 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell's shares are traded on the New York, London, Chicago and Pacific Stock Exchanges. It is one of the 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average and is also a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 Index. For additional information, please visit www.honeywell.com
