TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 22 -- American Honda announced prices for its all-new 2005 Honda Odyssey, making its debut today at Honda dealerships nationwide. The completely re-engineered 2005 Odyssey sets a new benchmark for the minivan segment with the highest level of standard features and advanced safety equipment in its class and a new level of innovation, refinement and performance that set it apart from the competition.
Prices for the 2005 Honda Odyssey -- featuring a more powerful and efficient 255-horsepower V-6 engine, an innovative new Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure and a comprehensive list of standard safety features -- will range from $24,995 for the well-equipped Odyssey LX to $34,495 for the all-new, ultra-premium, Touring model.
Significant new standard features for all 2005 Odysseys include: * Three-row Side Curtain Airbags with rollover sensor; * Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA(TM)) with Traction Control; * Advanced Compatibility Engineering(TM) (ACE(TM)) Body Structure; * New, more user friendly One-Motion 60/40 Split 3rd-Row Magic Seat(R); * 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 engine with class-leading 255 horsepower; * 2nd-row power windows, in-dash CD player and remote keyless entry; * A more comfortable and spacious interior with full-size second-row captain's chairs, in-floor storage and three inches of additional third-row legroom; * All new body structure and chassis delivering luxury-class ride, handling and NVH characteristics.
In addition to the aforementioned new features, the Odyssey LX comes equipped with a long list of standard comfort and convenience items including remote keyless entry, power windows with auto-down driver's window, dual power mirrors, rear privacy glass, front and rear air conditioning, 120-watt AM/FM/CD 4-speaker stereo, cruise control and Immobilizer theft deterrent system.
The full-featured Odyssey EX builds on the LX features and adds a 2nd-Row PlusOne(TM) seat for 8-person seating capacity, a Lazy Susan in-floor storage tray, tri-zone automatic climate control (manual rear control), a 6-disc in-dash CD player, second-row sunshades and a conversation mirror with an MSRP of $27,995.

EX with Leather models can also be equipped with the latest generation of Honda's Satellite-Linked Navigation System with expanded Voice Recognition capabilities and exclusive features like Zagat Survey(R) restaurant guide information. (The DVD Entertainment System is standard on EX with Leather models equipped with the available Honda navigation system.)
The all-new Odyssey Touring model takes the concept of a premium minivan to the next level with a long list of standard luxury features including a power tailgate, power adjustable pedals, 360-watt 7-speaker premium audio system, Michelin(R) PAX(R) System wheels and tires, a direct-sensing Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), tri-zone automatic climate control (with automatic rear controls), and front and rear parking sensors. Additional Touring features include a Multi-Information Display, fog lights, removable 2nd-row center console (in place of 2nd-Row PlusOne Seat), driver memory seat, auto on/off headlights and a 115-volt power outlet. Pricing for the new ultra-premium Touring model starts at $34,495. Touring models with the available Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition are also equipped with the DVD Entertainment System.
Advancing the standard for safety, the Odyssey is the first Honda vehicle to fully implement Honda's industry-leading Safety for Everyone initiative with the following standard features: ACE Body Structure for enhanced crash protection, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control, anti-lock brakes (ABS), front side airbags, three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, and pedestrian safety design features. The 2005 Odyssey is the first minivan to incorporate a rollover sensor for side curtain airbag deployment in the event of a rollover and the only minivan to employ individual side impact sensors for all three rows of seats.
The Odyssey's independent front and rear suspension features floating front and rear sub-frames and an ultra-rigid body structure to help deliver luxury-class ride and handling performance and while helping to minimize cabin noise and road vibrations.
New powertrain technology debuting on the 2005 Odyssey includes a 3.5-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine with VCM technology that deactivates three of the engine's six cylinders for improved city/highway EPA fuel economy estimates of 20/28 mpg (versus 18/25 for the 2004 model). Drive-by-wire throttle control is standard on all models, and the Odyssey's 5-speed automatic transmission now features a direct control shift system for smoother gear changes. The VTEC (LX and EX) and i-VTEC (EX with Leather and Touring) engines both produce 255 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque.
The interior of the 2005 Odyssey emphasizes the style, features and sophistication of a premium luxury sedan -- especially in the new Touring model. The addition of a new 60/40 Split Third Row Magic Seat with one motion operation, along with full-size second-row captain's chairs that can slide 10-inches fore and aft, adds new cargo and people hauling flexibility while maintaining the high level of comfort that minivan customers expect.
World-class fit and finish, a new more sophisticated interior design and dynamic exterior styling highlight the new Odyssey's luxury sedan-like character. Like all Honda products, the new Odyssey has world-class ergonomics with controls that are intuitive and easy to operate. New noise dampening materials have also been applied to make this the quietest Odyssey ever.
Destination and handling charges for all 2005 Honda vehicles are $515. Additional media information and photography of the 2005 Honda Odyssey are available at www.hondanews.com. Consumer information regarding the Odyssey is available at www.hondacars.com.
