IDG's Computerworld Recognizes BladeLogic With Annual Innovative Technology Award

WALTHAM, Mass.--Sept. 20, 2004--BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of data center automation software, announced today that it has won an award from IDG's Computerworld, the Voice of IT Management, for leading-edge technology that provides measurable business value to end-user organizations. This honor is part of Computerworld's third annual Innovative Technology Awards program which was announced in the September 13 issue and online at computerworld.com.

In order to be considered for the awards program vendors had to be nominated by IT end users that do not produce or sell technology. Nominees were surveyed regarding their technology innovations and customer references were contacted for each vendor. A panel of outside experts and Computerworld editors then reviewed the surveys and chose 30 winners in 12 categories, including data management, mobile/wireless, security and web site management. BladeLogic was recognized for BladeLogic Operations Manager, the company's suite of data center automation solutions.

"We started BladeLogic over three years ago with one goal in mind--to enable our customers to experience tremendous cost and efficiency benefits by providing them with the most sophisticated data center automation solution on the market," said Dev Ittycheria, president and CEO, BladeLogic. "Winning a Computerworld Innovative Technology Award is particularly gratifying since we were selected based on the direct feedback from our customers and their specific experiences using our software. I would like to thank our customers for their continued support of BladeLogic and our employees whose commitment and hard work were directly responsible for winning this prestigious award."

The shift to distributed computing architectures and the dynamic nature of today's businesses have resulted in rapid growth in servers, applications and users. BladeLogic enables companies to efficiently and securely automate data center tasks including server and application provisioning, patch management, change management, compliance management and remote administration. This approach reduces the complexity and costs of managing the data center, improves security and ensures better IT responsiveness to rapidly evolving business requirements. BladeLogic addresses today's data center management challenges while laying the foundation for utility computing.

"The winners of Computerworld's Innovative Technology Awards exemplify today's most creative and original technology thought leaders," said Don Tennant, editor in chief of Computerworld. "They should be congratulated for their ability to develop products that create new advantages and opportunities for both current and prospective Fortune 1000 customers."
