California Natural Gas Vehicle Education Campaign Has Eyes on Texas for National NGV Conference & Exhibition

Conference Theme 'NGVs Now: The Clean Drive. The Secure Energy. The Proven Solution'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 -- The California Natural Gas Vehicle Education Campaign has its eyes on San Antonio, Texas for the 22nd National NGV Conference & Exhibition, the #1 event dedicated to NGV and natural gas-to- hydrogen technologies and business development.

The event, to be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center September 19-21, will target fleet executives, policy makers and clean vehicle advocates. According to Doug Horne, president of the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, speakers and programs will focus on key issues driving the trend toward alternative fuel vehicles:

-- The critical need to reduce emissions from cars, trucks and buses and
thereby improve the quality of the air we breathe and the environment
that we live in and pass on to future generations.

-- Concern about energy security, especially our over-reliance on oil,
given the ever-increasing energy demand and the market uncertainty
about unrest in the Middle East and other oil-rich regions of the
world. Current and future global energy demand highlight a bright
      outlook for NGVs.

-- Interest in developing more diversified vehicle and fuel options for
the future so that transportation energy use is cleaner, more
efficient and less burdensome on our economy and political posture.
With the promise of hydrogen-fueled transportation, what hurdles and
opportunities lay ahead and how will the advances in natural gas
vehicle and fueling infrastructure technology be integral to achieving
      that promise.

General session speakers for the conference, which expects attendance of more than 400 participants, include:

Hon. Jerry Patterson -- Commissioner, Texas General Land Office, who will speak on how Texas' adoption of progressive policies more than 10 years ago served as an early catalyst in the development of the NGV market

Jorgen Henningsen -- Principal Advisor to Directorate General for Energy and Transportation, European Commission, who is the architect of Europe's long term transportation roadmap

Brian Stokes -- Chairman, Clean Vehicle Education Campaign, who will address challenges facing the NGV industry and how assessing opportunities and adapting business plans and models will make the most of the new reality

Michael Pratt -- Vice President, Business Development, Clean Energy Fuels Corporation and Paul Wuebben -- Clean Fuels Officer, South Coast Air Quality Management District will together address the significant technical, code and market entry hurdles that must be overcome to realize the full potential of a hydrogen-based future -- and the pivotal role that NGVs will play in the interim decades

Dr. Jeffrey Seisler, Executive Director, European Natural Gas Vehicle Association, will address the topic of successful strategies for global NGV markets -- who has successfully capitalized on the opportunities and what can we learn from them

Other speakers in general session meetings as well as breakout sessions will cover topics including natural gas purchasing, achieving air quality and petroleum displacement goals, why private fleets are switching to NGVs, municipal applications of NGVs, how NGVs are taking off at airports, and a legislative update.

"Members of our campaign applaud the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation for sponsoring this event at such a critical time," said Andrew Littlefair, president and CEO of Clean Energy. "We continue to make the case for the use of NGVs to combat our over dependence on foreign oil and to alleviate the negative impact on our environment from gasoline fuels from auto emissions.

"Our environment, our health, our economy will all benefit from widespread use of natural gas vehicles, and we need to communicate these benefits to cities, governments and individuals across the U.S.," he added. "NGVs are a viable option available to us right now, and an option that will help pave the way toward future technologies."
