One on One Drags at SSP on Thursday
Two Races Left at SSP for 2004 with the One-on-One Drags on Thursday
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (September 14, 2004) – This Thursday night, September 16,
SSP will host the first of its final two 410 Sprint Car races of the 2004
season. The return of the popular One-On-One Street Car Drags will also take
place. Also racing will be the Xtreme Enduro Stock Cars and Legends Cars.
The Super Sprint Car Finale scheduled for Thursday, September 30 has been
moved to Thursday Night, September 23 as to not conflict with the raindate of
the World of Outlaws event at the Port Royal Speedway. The Fastor Pastor race
and Ford vs. Chevy Tug O’ War has also been postponed from the September 23
schedule. SSP officials are still discussing with Classic Car officials to
move their September 30 event to September 23.
Gates open in the pit area at 4:00 p.m. with the grandstand gates opening
at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at
7:30 p.m. Grandstand ticket prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens
(13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12) $4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free. SSP
will continue its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00 discount
for each person with a ticket stub from the September 9 event only. For
example, $2.00 off an Adult ticket for September 16 with and Adult ticket stub
from the September 9 event. Returning fans are encouraged to write their
name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into a
special drawing to be held at the final September 23 event. The grand prize will
be two tickets to the NASCAR race in October at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in
Charlotte, North Carolina. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price
of $18.00 for all track license holders. The raindate will be Thursday,
September 23 with the same time schedule. It will not be Sunday as to not
conflict with the raindate of the Selinsgrove Speedway’s prestigious National Open.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles
NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. For more information,

SSP News and Notes:
- There is no racing scheduled for the month of October at SSP as a Haunted
Hayride will take place on Fridays & Saturdays, October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 &
30. This one mile trip around the SSP property will provide thrills and
chills for all ages. The highlight of the ride will be the action in the
haunted woods behind the track. Advance tickets and group reservations are
encouraged and available by calling (717) 292-1696. Rides for children will begin ½
hour before dusk and the last ride will be at 11:00 p.m.
- A long Enduro racing event is in the planning stages for a Saturday in
November.
- An aggressive 2005 racing schedule is in the planning stages with a wide
variety of divisions and great racing action. Weekly Thursday night racing w
ill continue in 2005 with the 410 Sprint Cars, Xtreme Enduro Stock Cars and
one other class or novelty act per night. The 358/360 Sprint Car Open
Challenge events will continue on nights when the 410 Sprint Cars are scheduled off.
There will also be eight Sportsman Tour Races scheduled for every other
Sunday beginning on June 5 and ending on September 4. Other notable dates
include four Great American School Bus Races to be announced and PA Speedweeks on
Thursday, June 30. A mid-summer break from racing action is also tentatively
planned from July 4 through July 16. More exciting and prestigious events
will be announced in the near future.
- The post season awards for the 2004 SSP 410 Sprint Car Points Championship
will be three (3) 2005 Season Pit Passes for the championship team (Value =
$1,500). Drivers finishing second through fifth will receive two (2) 2005
Season Pit Passes (Value = $1,000 per team). Drivers finishing sixth through
tenth will receive one (1) 2005 Season Pit Pass (Value = $500 per team).
The complimentary driver’s pit pass for all licensed members will also be in
effect again for 2005. The post season awards for the 2004 SSP Xtreme Stock
Car Points Championship will be two (2) 2005 Season Pit Passes for the
championship team (Value = $1,000). Drivers finishing second through fifth will
receive one (1) 2005 Season Pit Passes (Value = $500 per team). The
complimentary driver’s pit pass for all licensed members will also be in effect again
for 2005.
