Managed Objects' Formula Software has been selected by Volvo Information Technology for its Business Service Management Care Pilot Project

MCLEAN, Va.--Sept. 13, 2004--Volvo Information Technology's (Volvo IT) Care Project intends to model three key truck and parts delivery and logistics services which were chosen due to their similarities following AB Volvo's acquisition of Renault Trucks. Volvo IT has selected Formula to model these services and the interdependencies between the underlying applications during this one-year pilot. Volvo's IT support teams will be able to see how and when a technical issue could impact these key services and prioritize diagnosis based on business impact.

"By using Formula to ensure the correct function of these services Volvo IT can rest assured that its main customer's trucks, both from Renault and Volvo, are manufactured and delivered according to 'just-in-time' principles -- thereby ensuring costs associated with delays in truck delivery or parts not being available are kept to a minimum, while at the same time increasing overall customer satisfaction," says Siki Giunta, CEO of Managed Objects.

Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for these critical business services will be agreed upon with the end-users and Formula's Business Service Level Manager (BSLM) will be used to automatically track and report the SLAs' compliance both in real-time and historically. The pro-active nature of BSLM will allow Volvo IT's operators to be warned before a service breach actually occurs, thus giving it time to resolve the issue before the business is impacted and as a result improve end-user satisfaction.

This project has been set up by Volvo IT as part of its internal program to enforce industry-wide best practices as recognized by ITIL, an IT service level standards setting organization. The ITIL Focused Care project has a Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB) at the core of the initiative with traditional business service management functions (Service Monitoring, SLA Management) operating on the periphery.

"Managed Objects provides an approach for Volvo IT to get the quickest possible investment return from improved Service Quality, while at the same providing a vehicle to drive the critical CMDB project forward," says Giunta.
