Graham wins CARQUEST Series race at Peterborough Speedway
PETERBOROUGH, ON - On Saturday night, the CASCAR CARQUEST Series made its
lone appearance of the season at Peterborough Speedway for the CARQUEST
100. Series points leader Brad Graham added to his championship lead with a
dominant performance at the high-banked, 1/3-mile Peterborough oval. The HB
Material Handling Dodge driver earned the top starting position during
qualifying and led all 100 laps of the feature race.
Second-place went to Jason Hathaway, of Appin, ON. The E.L. Fordham / TSC
Stores Chevy racer dogged Graham for the first half of the event, but
backed off a bit, at mid-distance, in preparation for a final charge.
Hathaway was all over the leader for the final 10 laps, but couldn't make
the winning pass on Graham, who collected his second checkered flag of the
season. Hathaway also has a pair of CARQUEST Series victories in '04.
Third-place at Peterborough went to veteran racer Mike Hryniuk, driver of
the One Stop Auto Pontiac. The LaSalle, ON racer started fourth in the
field of 18 at Peterborough.
The seventh and final CARQUEST Series race of the season takes place next
Saturday, Sept. 18 at Kawartha Speedway as part of the CASCAR Championship
weekend.
