BACHETTI BEST IN COORS NATIONAL 200 AT LEBANON VALLEY

September 11, 2004

West Lebanon, NY- Andy Bachetti dominated the second half of the Coors National 200 Saturday night to record the biggest win of his career. The "Wild Child" from Sheffield, Mass piloted his Albreada Waste #4 to his first career victory in a 200-lap event. Bachetti walked away with $10,000 for his performance. This race was the twentieth stop on the Advance Auto Parts Super Dirt Series Trail for modifieds. The Empire Sports Network Super Dirt Series for Pro Stocks was also on hand for a 25-lap race on Saturday night and 2004 Lebanon Valley point champion Rob Yetman was the winner. The pure stock division was also on hand for a special 15-lap winners classic and Pete DeFiglio was the winner of that race.

Tim McCreadie and Wayne Jelley led the field of thirty-three modifieds down to the green flag. McCreadie grabbed the early race lead and held it for the first fifteen laps. Only seven caution flags slowed the event for a total of thirty-six laps. The hardest hit of the night came on lap four when Hector Stratton made hard contact with the turn three wall. He was not injured but the racecar sustained heavy damage. Bachetti took command of the race from McCreadie on lap 15 just as they caught the tail end of the field. Vic Coffey dropped from the event on lap 22. Brett Hearn started deep in the pack and was up to third by lap 26. Jelley's night ended early as he and McCreadie made contact on lap 31 sending Jelley into the fence. At lap 50 it was Bachetti, Hearn, McCreadie, Gary Tompkins and Eddie Marshall.

The Coors National 200 requires a mandatory pit stop that must take place between laps 50 and 150. Most drivers choose to take care of that requirement on lap 56 after Skippy Fox blew a motor. Ron Dwyer, Justin Haers and John Alberti were the only cars on the lead lap that did not pit and now sat first through third. Two restarts later on lap 70 Haers jumped the start and was sent to the rear. Bachetti now sat right on the back deck lid of Dwyer. Bachetti made the pass for the lead on lap 78 and would not relinquish that position the remainder of the race. At the halfway point the top ten running order was as follows; Bachetti, Hearn, Dwyer, Billy Decker, Ken Tremont, Donnie Corellis, Eddie Marshall, McCreadie, Chad Brachmann and Tompkins.

The second half of the race turned into a lapped traffic festival for Bachetti. He tore through the pack on had lapped up to 15th place by lap 104. Dwyer's night came to an end on lap 111 when he made contact with the turn four wall. While under the caution flag Bachetti picked up a special award for leading lap 115, a five hundred dollar bonus in the memory of Olivia Grace Tremont. In additional five hundred dollars was donated in Bachetti's name to Albany Medical Center as well. All that was compliments of Boomer's Performance. The caution flag never flew after lap 111 and it sure did have an effect on the outcome of some driver's night. Only ten cars were still left on the lead lap by lap 143 out of the twenty cars still on the track. Just eleven laps later there were only six cars on the lead lap.

Bachetti was absolutely running away with the event. It not for lapped traffic allowing Hearn to stay with him Bachetti may have lapped the whole field. One of the best races in the final stages was between Marshall and Tremont for fourth. The two drivers swapped the position several times before Tremont held it on lap 172. Marshall's night ended several laps later with rearend problems. Corellis saw a top ten finish disappear as he ran over debris on the backstretch and cut a tire. With only fifteen laps remaining there were now only three cars on the lead lap. Decker was third with eight laps to go when his gas tank went empty and he had to pit for fuel. That left only two cars on the lead lap.

Hearn made a late race charge and the fans were on their feet for the final ten laps. It was going to be a duel between the craft old master and the wily youngster. Hearn had several moves thwarted by lapped cars. The two raced hard on the final lap and Hearn ducked under Bachetti coming off four, but his bid came up about three-quarters of a racecar short. Bachetti hung on to beat the master for a career-building victory. Tremont finished third, McCreadie fourth and Brachmann was fifth.

Rob Yetman and Jim Langenback were scheduled to start side by side for the 25-lap Empire Sports Network Pro Stock feature. But, Langenback blew a clutch on the parade lap and was done for the night. Yetman moved into the pole position and would never let it go the remainder of the event. Yetman did have to survive his share of restart however as seven cautions flew in the event. But Yetman wheeled his Troy Management Group-Beer Belly Bobs #7 to a comfortable lead on every restart. It was a good run for Lebanon Valley regulars as crossing the line behind Yetman was Bill Lobdell, Scott Govertsen, Chris Crews and Ed Bachand. The first invader was in sixth and that was Will Adams. It was a great win for Yetman because he is now a guaranteed starter for Super Dirt Week. This was also the final night of points and Yetman walked away with his first track championship.

The pure stocks division ran a special 15-lap feature on Saturday night for any driver that had won a race in 2004 in their division. Pete DeFiglio made a daring last lap pass on Jon Routhier to claim the win and the added bonus of $200 compliments of Boomer's Performance.
