Park V Leather to Hold Auction in Memory of Indian Larry; Proceeds to Benefit ASPCA
TOMS RIVER, N.J., Sept. 10 -- Motorcycle enthusiasts around the world were stunned to hear of legendary motorcycle artist Larry "Indian Larry" Desmedt's sudden death late last month. As his fans mourn the loss of the self-described Renaissance man who appeared in movies, television shows and magazines and won countless custom shows with his hard-core motorcycle designs, one company is continuing Indian Larry's good works. Park V Leather (http://www.parkvleather.com/) will soon be holding an eBay auction for the last jacket ever designed for Indian Larry; a percentage of the proceeds will go to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), one of the causes Indian Larry supported over the years.
Prior to the auction, the jacket will be on display at Park V's booth at the ASD/AMD Variety Merchandise Show, Sept. 11 - 14 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
Indian Larry, who died of complications on August 30, 2004 after a fall during a motorcycle stunt, originally commissioned the jacket from Park V Leather and wore it during his initial fitting. Park V Leather CEO Scott D. Gussin said he admired Indian Larry and wanted to do something in memory of the man who lived life full-throttle.
"Indian Larry was a good man," said Gussin. "I had only one opportunity to meet this living legend when I presented the jacket to him for his review. He was truly a pleasure to talk with, and I feel saddened that I will not have another opportunity to meet with him again."
Included in the eBay auction will be the original hand-drawn and signed sketch of the jacket and a picture of Indian Larry with Scott D. Gussin. The jacket can be viewed at booth 2542 during the ASD/AMD Variety Merchandise Show. Gussin said he hopes to honor Indian Larry's memory with a sizable donation to the ASPCA.
"I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Indian Larry's wife, family and friends," Gussin finished. "Not only motorcycle enthusiasts, but anyone who had the opportunity to meet him realizes the great loss his passing truly is."
