Active Recognition Technologies to Showcase LPR Software at ASIS International 2004

PHOENIX, Sept. 9 -- Active Recognition Technologies (ART) will showcase its patented V-Metrics(TM) license plate and vehicle recognition (LPR) software at the world's largest security trade show, ASIS International 2004, held Sept. 27-30 in Dallas, Texas.

V-Metrics enhances security by automatically identifying a vehicle, finding and reading the license plate, then instantly comparing that information to a categorized "hot list." If matched, an alarm can immediately be sent to an external device to initiate appropriate action. The visual record is also kept in a database for future retrieval.

"We partner with security system integrators and resellers to incorporate our LPR software with their software or hardware systems," said Alex Parrish, VP of business development for Active Recognition Technologies. "This show is an ideal opportunity to establish new partners, and to show security system managers, or end-users, the benefits that V-Metrics offers."

V-Metrics is sold exclusively through resellers and is designed to be integrated with other software programs or hardware systems. OEM and reseller opportunities are available worldwide.

Industry-specific applications of the software will be exhibited by Alphapoint, LLC (Booth 6231). Software demonstrations can be set up with Active Recognition Technologies by calling Raymond Ussery at 480-586-3400.

"Security managers want solutions that help find and identify potential threats before they occur," said Arthur Lawida, CEO Active Recognition Technologies. "Our software is ideal for area surveillance, access control and threat detection as well as law enforcement applications such as stolen vehicle detection, border patrol and Amber alert automation."

Unlike most LPR software, V-Metrics is designed to operate in North America, where plate styles, fonts, size and spacing cannot be predetermined. V-Metrics requires no additional lighting, works at high speeds and in any weather condition.

V-Metrics is the first product to identify vehicles by a combination of color, shape, and license plate. License plates, like other security tokens, can be lost, faked, stolen or shared. ART's LPR technology analyzes that the right license plate is present on the correct vehicle and can automatically send an alarm to emails, pagers or be integrated with standards-based command and control systems.

ASIS International, with more than 33,000 members, is the preeminent international organization for professionals responsible for security, including managers and directors of security.
