BNSF Logistics, LLC. and Autolog Corporation Announce Expansion of Auto Transport (Car-Rail) Service Geared to Needs of Snowbirds

SPRINGDALE, Ark., and LINDEN, N.J., Sept. 8 -- BNSF Logistics, LLC., an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF), and Autolog Corporation, one of the oldest and largest transporters of privately owned vehicles, announce the expansion of service to include numerous Midwestern cities. This service utilizes The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway's extensive fleet of autoveyor equipment.

The Car-Rail service caters to the needs of "snowbirds" -- individuals with dual residences who spend the winter in Arizona or those who may be relocating to the Phoenix area. Specifically, the Car-Rail service will now be available to residents of Chicago, Ill.; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.; and other Midwest cities via truck transport connection to the rail terminals. The service is managed by Autolog's Car-Rail division and coordinated through the BNSF Logistics' CarsOnTrack program.

"Effective September 27, 2004, the Car-Rail service will commence operations on a regular basis from Elwood, Ill., and St. Paul, Minn., to Phoenix," says Myron Levine, President of Autolog Corporation. Levine adds, "Vehicles can be dropped off at these terminals or Autolog can arrange to have your vehicle picked up at a private residence."

Robert Sutton, BNSF Logistics' Director of Operations, adds, "Clients who utilize the Car-Rail service receive a reliable, low-cost, safe and timely method of transporting their vehicles." The CarsOnTrack operation will provide sufficient FULLY ENCLOSED auto haulers to protect the vehicles from damage. The average transit time for vehicles utilizing the Car-Rail service from Chicago to Phoenix, for example, is 10-12 days versus the 14-21 days for an independent car hauling company. The cost to transport a standard sized vehicle will start at $495.
