Custom Cars, Wild Rides and Entertainment Bring Thousands of Families Together; DaimlerChrysler Kicks Off Third-Annual Chrysler Ownership Event, 'Chrysler Block Party,' September 25 at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Ill.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 8 -- Thousands of Chrysler owners and their families from across the country will cruise to the Chicago area in September to share a day of wild rides, live musical entertainment, and, of course, cars. The event, titled "Chrysler Block Party," will take place at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Ill., on Saturday, September 25.

Similar to Camp Jeep, which is one of the largest vehicle owner loyalty programs in the country and attended by Jeep enthusiasts, the Chrysler Block Party provides customers the opportunity to share their passion with other car owners and have a day of fun with their families. The Chrysler Block Party is the third ownership gathering hosted by the automaker.

Six Flags Great America will be open exclusively to guests of the Chrysler Block Party, giving attendees a special opportunity to enjoy the rides and attractions of the amusement park. Before and after they take a spin on the rides inside the park, drivers can take their pick of several activities hosted by Chrysler including:

- Drive Courses: Attendees can experience the performance and capabilities of the full Chrysler lineup of vehicles in the Car & Driver / Road & Track sponsored drive courses. Guests over the age of 18 can test drive the new flagship vehicle, the Chrysler 300C as well as the head-turning PT Cruiser, Crossfire Roadster and Convertible, Sebring coupes, sedans and convertible and the new Town & Country minivan with Stow n' Go seating.

- PT Cruiser Boulevard: A special customization area, called the "PT Cruiser Custom Court," will highlight, through workshops and demonstrations, a variety of ways to customize the PT Cruiser. Information and instruction by representatives from professional aftermarket accessories companies will give PT owners what they need to know to individualize their own engines, grills, hoods, headlights and taillights.

In addition to the driving courses and customization demonstrations, special roundtables will be available where owners can interact with fellow owners and Chrysler engineers and designers. Roundtable participants will have a chance to ask vehicle questions, share ideas and viewpoints, as well as hear how other owners use their vehicles and what they've done to customize them. Customer input on future models is encouraged in the roundtable sessions as well.

Furthermore, Outside Magazine will be giving rides on a Surf Simulator, Men's Health will be sponsoring "In the Kitchen" demonstrations and Rolling Stone Magazine will offer attendees the chance to sing their favorite song in the Rolling Stone Recording Studio.

Jeff Bell, Vice President of Chrysler and Jeep said, "The Chrysler Block Party is not only a unique event for car enthusiasts to show off their vehicles and learn more about new products, but it's also a great chance for families to spend quality time together in an extremely lively environment. It's a great party for people of all ages."

Chrysler Block Party opens (in the parking lot) on Saturday, September 25 at 8 a.m., Six Flags Great America will open at 10 a.m. All activities and exhibits will close at 5:30 p.m. and the amusement park will close at 6 p.m. The day's events will conclude with an outdoor musical extravaganza and fireworks finale showcasing the music of The Brian Setzer Orchestra at 6:30 p.m.
