SDC Technologies, Inc. Announces Change of Ownership

ANAHEIM, California, September 7 --

- The Compass Group International LLC Teams With Management to Pursue Growth Opportunity in Specialized Functional Coatings

SDC Technologies Inc. (SDC), a California-based global supplier of functional surface technologies, coatings and materials, today announced that 100% of the Company has been purchased by The Compass Group International LLC (The Compass Group) and the management team. SDC is a leading developer of proprietary, high-performance coating systems for application to plastic and glass materials. The company's high performance coatings, widely known for optical clarity and superior abrasion resistance, are used extensively in vision applications with end uses in the ophthalmic, sunglass and safety eyewear segments. No changes to SDC's senior management team are planned as a part of the acquisition.

The Compass Group is a private investment firm with offices in Westport, Connecticut and Irvine, California. Compass focuses on growing segments of the service, distribution and manufacturing sectors of the economy, primarily in North America. With a preferred investment size of US$10 million to US$25 million, Compass typically invests alongside experienced management teams.

The company was formerly a joint venture between Dow Corning Corporation, located in Midland, Michigan and Pilkington plc, a United Kingdom-based company.
