Chicagoland marks Kanaan's 31st IndyCar Series start.
Kanaan enters the Chicagoland event atop the IndyCar® Series point standings with 503 points; he
leads Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dan Wheldon by 72 points and Buddy Rice by 76 points.
Kanaan has completed all 2,705 race laps run this season, making him the only IRL IndyCar® Series
driver to have completed every lap.
Kanaan is the only IndyCar® Series driver to have both started in the top 10 and recorded a top-10
finish in all 13 outings in 2004. Additionally, he is riding a string of 12 consecutive top-five finishes.
Kanaan's 815 laps led this season are the most of any IndyCar® Series driver and more than twice that
of the next-highest lap leader. Teammates Dan Wheldon (397) and Dario Franchitti (347) rank second
and third, respectively. In leading 815 laps, Kanaan now holds the IndyCar® Series record for most
laps led in a season, surpassing the previous mark of 812 by Tony Stewart (1996-97).
With 12 top-five finishes this season, Kanaan has tied Helio Castroneves (12, 2002) for the IndyCar®
Series record for most top-five finishes in a season.
Kanaan ranks fourth among IndyCar Series career lap leaders, having led 1,156 laps.
Kanaan has four career IndyCar® Series wins (Phoenix 2003 and 2004, Texas 2004, Nashville 2004)

claimed all three podium positions.
