Harold Martin Holds the No. 1 Position on Saturday at
the U.S. Nationals
Event: 50th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals
Location: Indianapolis Raceway Park
Indianapolis, IN
Day/Date: Saturday September 4, 2004
For the second consecutive day, the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Modifieds saw their qualifying attempts at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals curtailed, with Saturday's activities reduced to a single attempt.
However, ACDelco Grand Am pilot Harold Martin took full advantage of the opportunity, scorching the Indianapolis Raceway Park quarter-mile in 6.201 seconds with a career-best top speed of 229.12 mph to capture the provisional No. 1 position heading into Sunday.
"We've had a great season to date with our ACDelco Grand Am, and to be able to come to a track such as this one, with all the best Pro Mods in the world in attendance, and perform as well as we did is very special. It puts an exclamation point on our year so far.
"Tomorrow is forecast to bring a completely different set of conditions, and we see it as another opportunity to experiment with our set up. We've come here to work on some new technology, and based on today's results, we're encouraged and believe we can build on that".
