Hyundai Year-to-Date Sales up Three Percent
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 1 -- Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 38,513 vehicles for the month of August. Sales for August 2004 were down six percent compared with August 2003. "Hyundai year-to-date sales are up three percent," said Ed Bradley, vice president National Sales at Hyundai Motor America. "We look forward to the launch of the all-new Hyundai Tucson SUV in the upcoming months. The new Tucson will continue to support Hyundai's sales growth this year," he said.
The award-winning Hyundai Santa Fe led sales for August with 10,455 units, setting an all-time monthly sales record for the Hyundai SUV. The popular Hyundai Sonata, which received the award as Highest Quality Entry Level Midsize Car in the J.D. Power and Associates 2004 Initial Quality Study (IQS), continues to experience strong sales growth this year.
The Hyundai Sonata also set an all-time monthly sales record of 10,247 units in August. The Hyundai Sonata was followed closely by the Hyundai Elantra with sales of 9,521 units. The sporty Tiburon coupe also set an all-time monthly sales record in August with 2,324 units.
