Volkswagen Reports August Sales

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 1 -- Volkswagen of America, Inc. reported sales of 22,724 for the month of August compared to last year's sales of 32,376.

For the year, Volkswagen has sold 174,658 new cars in the U.S.

Sales of Volkswagen's award-winning Touareg enjoyed a strong August with sales of 2,414, topping last year's number of 2,225, an increase of 8.5 percent.
