U-Haul International, Inc. Teams With McCormick & Co., Inc. to Spice Up Labor Day Weekend
Free Barbecue Seasonings With Propane Refill
PHOENIX, Sept. 1 -- U-Haul International, Inc. , North America's largest propane BBQ refilling network, is teaming up with another world leader, McCormick & Co., Inc. to spice up the Labor Day grilling experience and show how much it appreciates its propane customers. Customers can bring in their propane tank at participating U-Haul Center locations, Sept. 4 - 6, to receive free sample packets of Grill Mates(R) Montreal Steak(R) Seasoning.
"This Labor Day weekend, folks across the U.S. will wind down the summer season by gathering with friends and family and firing up the grill," stated Larry Hine, U-Haul Propane Program manager. "This is our way of saying thanks to all our loyal customers and it's also a great way to spice up the holiday."
U-Haul offers the following tips and advice for families who want to stay safe while grilling on this holiday weekend.
* After having your cylinder filled, secure it and transport it in an upright position. Take it home immediately and do not leave it in your vehicle. * Before connecting or lighting a propane grill, check the propane cylinder and connections for leaks by applying soapy water to valves and connections. A leak will cause bubbles to form. The distinct odor of rotten eggs may indicate the presence of a propane leak. * If a leak is detected, turn off the gas and tighten all connections. Test again. If the bubbles or smell continue, have your tank and/or grill checked by your local grill supplier. * If you have a major leak or a fire, call 911 or your local fire department immediately. * Keep children away from the grill and propane tank. * When lighting your grill, make sure the grill top is open and follow the manufacturer's instructions. * When not in use, grill controls should be turned off and the propane cylinder valve closed.
More than 60 million people use propane in their daily activities. In fact, propane is fast becoming a household staple for heating homes and swimming pools, and fueling gas grills and appliances.
"Propane is one of the safest, cleanest-burning alternative fuels available. It is a very convenient energy source when handled correctly," Hine said. "Propane has a broad range of applications. Probably the most exciting use for propane is as a clean alternative fuel for vehicles. It's nontoxic, making it safe for the environment."
